  • About the Salisbury

The very name of this pub is part of the fabric of British history and reaches back to Robert Cecil, the first Earl of Salisbury who is said to have been the wisest man in Tudor politics. It was Cecil's 19th descendant, the third Marquis of Salisbury and Queen Victoria's favourite Prime Minister, from whom the site of the tavern was originally leased in 1892. Prior to this the pub had been known as The Coach & Horses and Ben Caunt's Head and was famous for promoting prize fighting. A much friendlier and welcoming atmosphere is assured these days.

The Salisbury has original etched glass and hand carved mahogany, making it stand out not just in the heart of Theatre land, but the whole of London. The pub has been used in films such as 'Victim' starring Dirk Boarded, 'Travels With My Aunt' starring Maggie Smith and most recently 'The Boat That Rocked' starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

Taylor Walker pubs have been serving the best British pub food and drink for over two centuries. With menu classics such as our Chip Shop Platter, succulent burgers and traditional British recipe Bangers & Mash, our pub food is freshly prepared and includes all your British favourites. We also offer a range of sandwiches and jacket potatoes.

Our pubs are proud to serve cask ale, an extensive wine list and a wide range of spirits and soft drinks. Whether you join us for an early morning freshly ground coffee, a quick pint after work or a get together with friends, you can be assured that our drinks range is both great quality and surprisingly well priced.
