  • About the Rose & Crown

The Rose & Crown is a traditional English pub in the heart of London's Mayfair. Dating back over 400 years, it was used as the living quarters for Oliver Cromwell's bodyguards. The pub was originally named 'The Oliver Cromwell' and remained so from 1643 to 1678. The pub was then renamed 'The Rose & Crown' and has traded ever since under that sign which consists of a royal crown surmounting a Tudor rose, symbolising the union of the houses of Lancaster and York.
Since the late 18th century the Rose & Crown has stood in the shadow of Aspley House, in which the first Duke of Wellington lived for 35 years until his death in 1852. In those days the mansion was known as 'No 1 London' because it was at that point that the countryside ended and London began.

Our range of drinks includes cask ale and an extensive wine list as well as a great range of soft drinks and coffees.

With fabulous British food to accompany our drinks, you can relax at this Taylor Walker pub over classics such as hand battered cod, chips and mushy or garden peas, traditional British recipe bangers & mash or a roast of the day seven days a week. Our pub food is freshly prepared and includes all your British favourites. We also offer a range of sandwiches and jacket potatoes.

We are delighted to welcome you at Taylor Walker and assure you of friendly service in a relaxing British pub with a welcoming atmosphere. We have an upstairs dining room with it's own bar available for private hire.
