Kings Arms

2 Shepherd Market, Mayfair, London, W1J 7QA

Kings Arms is a traditional British pub in Mayfair serving great cask ales and freshly cooked traditional pub food.

Established in 1878, this charismatic pub sits in a charming little part of Mayfair. It was formerly known as the Jolly Butcher. In 1660, the site was sold to Edward Sheppard from Nithanual Curson for the sum of £8.

The King’s Arms pub sign would not have be used in the Common Wealth, but instead is used as proud declaration of loyalty to monarch since the ‘Restoration’. The Restoration of the English monarchy began in 1660 when the English, Scottish and Irish monarchies were all restored under Charles II after the Interregnum that followed the Wars of the Three Kingdoms.

In more recent times, there are over 50 pubs in London alone whom share its name. This Kings Arms is not one to miss though, as it has been frequented by royalty, as well as celebrity royalty, with the likes of Johnny Depp and rock stars Arctic Monkeys known to have enjoyed a drink within its walls.
